Outdoor Learning - Exploring the 8 Point Compass & Angles
29th Jan 2026
This week Primary 6 have been exploring the 8 point compass and using positional language to develop their understanding of direction and angles.
The children worked in groups to draw a large 8 point compass on the playground and once it was completed they practised facing and moving in different directions using the key vocabulary such as quarter turn, half turn, clockwise & anti-clockwise.
To take our learning further we created ‘tracks’ on the ground. One member of the group was blindfolded while the others had to give clear, accurate instructions to help them follow the track from start to finish.
