Numeracy is fun indoors and outdoors!

21st Oct 2021

P1 have been very busy during numeracy time.
They count and play mental maths games daily. Sorting was fun especially when they sorted the class in the playground into boys/not boys. They compared objects that were the same and different and matched pairs of shoes, socks and gloves. They liked pegging on the clothes line! Other things they have learned are to count objects very carefully and not skip a few! In playtime they investigated 3D shapes when building their homes with bricks and one of their favourite games is the Gatekeeper’s game with 2d shapes. They discovered patterns are everywhere - the school gate, school roof, P1 big mat and some of their pencil cases. They made different body patterns eg stand, sit, stand, sit etc. In PE they counted how many times they could throw and catch a balloon and none of the balloons burst!
