East Coast Adventure Centre - Day 2

1st May 2025

In the words of my P7s…….’Unreal Experience’ and ‘A once in a life time opportunity.’

What a day we all had today. First up, we started off with our breakfast (which probably seemed a lifetime to wait for some as they were up so early) and then we set off to Warrenpoint in the mini buses to take part in our water sports. The children got to experience kayaking, giant paddle boarding and jumping in off the jetty. They didn’t even realise they crossed over the border into Carlingford whilst doing these. When they returned back to Warrenpoint they then got to experience what it was like on a banana boat. I think this was a firm favourite  by everyone.

Next up, it was the bus journey back to the centre and the children were served soup and burgers for lunch.
After this, the P6 and P7s were split up and the P7s stayed at the centre to take part in ‘Sport for All’ games. These games tested their listening skills, concentration and the ability to follow instructions as well as their athletic ability. It was great fun!!

Just before our evening activity we had our dinner which was sausages and chips with a lollipop for dessert. This went down a treat.

Finally, we all headed down to Kilbroney Park  for an evening walk. Our walk was the ‘Narnia Walk’ which incorporated characters and scenes from the movie ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.’ Our leaders had great knowledge of the area too and told us stories. Before we headed back to the centre they all had a chance to go to the shop to buy some snacks.
We arrived back with some tired faces and tired legs after such a busy and exciting day. The children can’t believe tomorrow is their last day.

Tomorrow morning we are canoeing down Newry canal and then coming back for our lunch before we get on the bus to head back to Clough.
