C4C Football Tournament (Part 2)

25th Jun 2023

On Thursday a girls and a boys football team travelled to Ballymena Academy to take part in the annual C4C Primary Schools Cup football tournament.

Both teams put in incredible performances in all their games showing great commitment and teamwork to both reach the finals.

In the girls final they were up against a strong sided Moorfields and despite many efforts at goals both teams could not find the net leaving the final score 0-0.  The game had to go to penalties and again both teams were neck and neck leaving it going to sudden death.  In the end Moorfields came out on top leaving the girls runners up in the whole tournament which was such a fantastic achievement.

This left the boys final and what a final it turned out to be.  They were up against a strong Carniny side but the boys  kept their cool and showed great skill with the end result finishing 0-0.  This was another final that went to penalties which wasn’t the first time our team encounter them. (I think this was their third penalties shootout) Despite fantastic saves and goals scored Carniny came out on top during the sudden death penalty shootout.  What a game!!

A big shoot out needs to out to our player of the tournament Taylor Campbell who produced excellent saves throughout each match and was a key part in the boys reaching their final.
