Animal Adaptations: Focus on Bird Beaks

14th Mar 2022

P6&7 had great fun on Friday during their World Around Us lesson.

Miss Lamont had planned a practical lesson which explored beak adaptations in birds and looked at the way in which beak shape is related to the available food sources within an environment.  The children simulated bird feeding by using a ‘beak’ to collect food.  They soon were able to deduce what beaks were most efficient for given foods by experimenting with imitation beaks and food sources.  They had such fun trying to find food, catch food, filter food from water to name a few.
