On Friday 26th April our school had two hockey teams travel over to Ballymena Academy to take part in the Ballymena Girls Hockey Tournament, organised by Ballymena Hockey Club.
Both teams played extremely well in their groups, showing great improvements in their skills and playing together as a team as this was their first time out playing competitively this year.
Our Clough 1 team came out winners of their group and made it through to the semi-finals. They won this game which then gave them a place in the final against Randalstown Central PS. The girls went down 1-0 quite early on in the game but their determination and superb hockey skills enabled them to pull one back making it 1-1. Three minutes added time was then played and at the end of this it was still 1-1. The final decision of who were the over winners came down to goals scored for each team throughout the tournament and unfortunately we lost out to this. We were all so proud of the girls making it that far and gaining the silver medals.
All the girls who participated were a credit to the school and we were all so proud of every single one of them.
